· Work closely with a small and fast-growing team and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including founders, management teams, advisors and co-investors.

Your department

PGGM is a Dutch pension fund service provider responsible for managing pensions for different pension funds, their affiliated employers and employees, with more than €250 billion in assets under management.

Climate and Energy Transition Solutions (CETS) is a €1 billion investment strategy of PGGM, launched in 2024. The strategy was established to invest in companies where climate impact is embedded in the core of the business and scales alongside commercial success. Approximately €700 million is allocated to direct equity investments managed by the team.

CETS focuses on opportunities across areas such as grid solutions, energy efficiency, circularity, sustainable fuels and carbon solutions. The team invests across growth equity and more asset-backed strategies, partnering closely with founders and management teams as companies move from initial commercial deployment towards scalable growth.

Since its launch, CETS has built a portfolio of five companies. The team currently consists of six investment professionals and works closely with PGGM’s Infrastructure and Private Equity teams. CETS invests primarily in developed European markets, with a strong focus on the Netherlands.

Your profile

You are analytically strong, intellectually curious and motivated to work with companies where climate impact and commercial success go hand in hand. You are comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, professional team and are eager to take responsibility and learn.

· Strong academic background, preferably in engineering, natural sciences or a related technical or quantitative field. A background in finance, economics or a similar field is also acceptable.

· Clear interest in growth equity investing and the energy transition.

· Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to analyse companies, markets and business models in a structured and commercially rigorous way.

· Broadly developed through extracurricular activities such as internships, committee roles, entrepreneurship, top-level sports or volunteering.

· Enrolled at or recently (summer of '26) graduated from a Dutch university (hard requirement).

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Dutch is not required.

We offer

A full-time, four-month internship with a steep learning curve in a dynamic and mission-driven investment team.

· Exposure to impactful investments that support the climate and energy transition across Europe.

· The opportunity to contribute to the pensions of millions of Dutch beneficiaries.

· An internship allowance of €1.016,- per month, full reimbursement of travel expenses and an allowance for costs associated with working from home (approx. €70 per month).
